Don’t miss out on a chance to get involved with Beyond Boundaries! We are always looking for people that are generous with their talents. With or without experience working with horses, there are many other opportunities for you to pitch in. If you enjoy helping people and have a knack for photography, handy or light construction work, networking, fundraising, web design or management, or would like to get your business involved...please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 501-941-1522.
Beyond Boundaries is a non-profit therapy center that utilizes horses as a therapy tool to increase specific motor, sensory, speech, and behavior/social responses. By non-profit, we mean that we operate primarily on a volunteer base with only one full-time paid employee. The ability to offer these one-of-a-kind therapy options in this way could not happen without the dedication and pure heart of so many. Beyond Boundaries is a place where individuals with disabilities and their families can create strong animal and human bonds and experience overwhelming therapy success. We are more than a unique therapy environment. Our staff and volunteers are focused on community education, building self confidence and supplying necessary tools for independence that are specific to each client and their family needs. We currently have 12 nationally registered hippotherapists (physical, occupational and speech therapist) that practice at Beyond Boundaries. Our therapeutic riding coordinator holds an Advanced Instructor Training Level and there are only two in Arkansas.
Since we are a non-profit, we are very thankful for donations and sponsorships made throughout the year. We are also very excited to have fundraising efforts hosted by Beyond Boundaries twice a year which give people from all walks of life a chance to see what we’re about and help support this great program! Every fall, we host the annual “Mane Event”. This is a night at the Little Rock River Market Pavilion filled with great food, drinks, live music by the “Saul Cats”, a silent & live auction featuring everything from original fine art to jewelry & spa packages and hunting gear & trips. This really is a great night out and gets bigger and bigger each year. After taking a break through the holidays, each spring we host the annual “Boot Scootin’ Bash & Dash”. This is our 5K run that starts at the Beyond Boundaries arena located in Ward, Arkansas, just north of Little Rock. Here the runners and families can spend the morning watching an exhibition of riders, enjoying the festivities, the food, and silent auction. We are also very honored to have an anonymous local supporter organize a corvette show that benefits Beyond Boundaries, “Corvettes for a Cause”. Details about all of these events can be found our website www.beyondboundariesar.com.
We were founded in 2003 and gained our non-profit status in 2004. We were founded to provide specialized "hippotherapy" to children in need. Hippotherapy is simply, treatment with the use of horses. Under the supervision of a Certified Physical, Occupational or Speech Hippotherapist and a Therapeutic Riding Instructor, the horse is used as a tool to induce medically relevant changes. They are using the horse to make improvements with the child, not just teaching them a skill. We also offer Therapeutic Riding, which teaches a child with a disability how to ride a horse independently with modifications under the direction of a Therapeutic Riding Instructor. We are pursuing efforts to become a Nationally Recognized Research Center for Hippotherapy services.
Aside from Beyond Boundaries hippotherapy and therapeutic riding opportunities for children & adults with disabilities, we are also moving toward other great things! For instance, one of the goals for Beyond Boundaries is to become a teaching & learning facility for therapists. Currently we are 1 of only 5 accredited fellowship locations in the nation for pediatric physical therapy. This was made possible through our partnership with Allied Therapy, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, & the University of Central Arkansas. Additionally, Beyond Boundaries is proud to have two published research articles in peer review medical journals and hopes to continue our research for many years to come.Home - About Allied - Physical Therapy & PT Directory - Occupational Therapy & OT Directory - Speech Therapy - New Clients - CEU's & Research - Beyond Boundaries - FAQ's & Developmental Milestones
